The Anastasio Project

The Anastasio Project is a multidisciplinary physical theater work that kickstarts an investigation of race relations by discussing the story of Anastasio Hernandez Rojas, a Mexican national who was detained and killed at the hands of a dozen Customs and Border Patrol agents in 2010. In partnership with Eastside Arts Alliance and The Bikery, we will create flash performance sketches with portable video and sound systems mounted on trikes, and perform them in outdoor public spaces on International Boulevard in Oakland: in front of grocery stores, taco trucks, bakeries, health centers, and beauty salons to engage the community & to create dialogue about the issue of race and relationship-building.
